Early life
Born in 1998 in Brooklyn, King Princess – known as Mikaela Straus when not on stage – was immersed in music from a young age. Her father was a sound engineer, and she was a keen student of a number of instruments as well as the production process.
Career
Signed to Mark Ronson’s label, King Princess launched her recording career in February 2018, with the release of thing single 1950. The song is a tribute to the novel The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith, and is a celebration of queer love.
She’s been a hit on the festival circuit, and has clearly established herself as an artist worth watching.
